Summary
The Digital Earth Sweden platform has been moved to a new hardware and software stack. Previously it was running on an experimental hardware setup at ICE data center. In this setting the development team was responsible for the maintenance and operation of the entire software stack from the infrastructure as a service interface (OpenStack) to the services exposed to the end user. With the new hardware and software stack, the team’s responsibility starts at the Kubernetes as a service level, offloading some of the maintenance burden to facilitate a faster development pace.
While the migration of our core services and data are complete, some of the auxiliary functions of the platform, such as monitoring, need some modifications to function at full capacity.
With the migration of the platform nearing completion, it is time to make a preview release of the platform.
